Weekly Summary

Posted by jefferson on Feb 18, 2012 in Site News | 2 comments

Hello everyone!  We had a great week here at See Debt Run, and we hope yours was as well.  This week, I made an extra $300 bucks by delivering flowers (discussed at length here), which is immediately going to pay off some debt.  Michelle is doing a diaper study and received a week’s worth of diapers and $30 for her opinion.  In addition, the first $350 of my automated monthly payments was made against our highest interest credit card.

We have continued our great progress in money-isaving lifestyle changes, discussed at great length by Michelle here, and we are on base to destroy our already ambitious monthly grocery goals. We have a busy weekend with a swim meet, a Cub Scout banquet, and some visiting with friends.  Next week is going to be a crazy one for me at the day job, so I will try to work in some R&R as well.

  • Becoming Minimalist got me tear up a little bit, writing this article called: 35 things I Hope My Kids Will Say About Their Dad.
  • Andrea from So Over Debt chimed in with this hilarious story about how a big lie from her son ended up fattening her retirement account.  I only wish this one didn’t hit so close to home.
  • Ninja, the fine author of the world’s funniest PF blog, “Punch Debt in the Face“, created a MAN-centric alternative to Pinterest called http://manteresting.com.  I promptly lost the next 4 hours of my life, looking at the hilarity therein.
  • Daisy, from When Life Gives You Lemons, wrote a fascinating piece about whether Personal Finance bloggers (like us) should remain anonymous, or should tell folks in real life about their blog. The comments on this one are interesting as well.
  • We found a number of other new PF blogs who are certainly worth checking out:  Cult of Money, Simple Island Living, Wealth Nerd, and Tackling Our Debt.
