I recently posted about the gadget envy that comes from living in a world of constantly evolving technology. I have been feeling plenty of this envy in recent weeks for a variety of reasons. When asked what they want for Christmas this year, both of my boys seem to be drawn mainly to new technologies (tablets, specifically). In addition, I have had my eye on a few new items for myself as well. My wireless router seems to be dropping connections more and more frequently and needs to be replaced, and I will most likely lose my work laptop in the next few months, which may require needing to purchase one to connect remotely.
The internet is full of information to help sort through the options when you are considering a technology purchase. To make sure that I am getting a balanced impression, I often read reviews from both professional publications (engadget, cnet), and from customers who have purchased the item. In addition, there are always a ton of features to wade through with all new technology options, and doing proper research can help you find the difference between the features that you will actually find useful and the marketing fluff.
Of course, the largest factor surrounding the purchase of new technology revolves around the price. You have to decide if you are willing to pay top dollar for the latest and greatest, or if technology from last year is sufficient for your needs. The wireless routers that I have been looking at range from $200 down to just $50, depending on which direction I want to go. Once you decide on a model, you have to then choose where you are going to buy it from. You can buy from a local B&M (brick and mortar) store, to make it easier on yourself in the event you have to return the item. Of course, you will likely pay a premium for the convenience. If you instead choose to purchase the item online, you will likely be able to find a much better price, especially if you keep an eye out for the best deals. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a site available that helped you stay on top of the best current deals available for current technology, to make sure that you don’t spend any more money than you have to? I recently discovered a site called TechBargains.com that does this very thing, and does it very well.
If you are familiar with Slickdeals, which is a popular aggregator of deals, TechBargains.com provides a similar service, but offers many more features, and turns the focus directly towards technology. TechBargains.com offers a price comparison tool, a huge coupon database, a large assortment of user forums, an outstanding assortment of reviews, and most impressively– the ability to find the current best deals available for whatever technology you are looking to buy. It is this last feature that truly makes the site unique, and is what impressed us so much.
I used the site to look up the best deals available on tablets, and found some amazing deals that I hadn’t seen anywhere else. At time of this article’s posting, they are showing a Galaxy Tab 2 for $150 and A Motorola Xoom for $229 (over 60% off retail), as well as a few dozen other great deals. These are amazing prices! TechBargains.com doesn’t actually sell these items themselves, but their staff regularly combs the internet to find all of the best sales as they become available and present them to their users in an easy to read format. Those deals above are actually from Wal-Mart and Groupon respectively, but TechBargains.com collects the info, and presents it in one place for easy consumption.
There is no doubt that TechBargains.com is the perfect site to keep track of all of the deals that are cropping up this year around Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If you know what you are shopping for, just drop by the site to find out the very best deals that are currently available. You can rest assured that if it is a great deal on technology, they will know about it.
We told the folks at TechBargains.com about how much we loved their site, and they wanted to offer something to See Debt Run users to help convince them to give their site a look. Tomorrow, they are starting a new contest where TechBargains.com will be giving away a brand new iPad Mini (worth $329)!! To enter the contest, all you have to do is click on the link below to register. I know that the iPad Mini certainly tops my kids’ tablet wishlist, so please don’t pass up this awesome opportunity to get a jump start on your Christmas shopping.

Sounds awesome- thanks for the opportunity. My 3 year old is obsessed with Iphones and Ipads. We don’t have them but some family and friends do. Have a great week!

I always find great deals on stuff on eBay. The only time it stinks when you really want to/need to save on buying an item, is when you need to purchase it soon because you need it for something specific. Like, my laptop charger hasn’t been working and my friend told me that Apple would charge me $80 for a new one, while I could get one off eBay for $17. I use my laptop for work and need a charger ASAP, so I would have been forced to pay a lot for a new one. Luckily, mine was still under warranty so I got it for free, but shopping around for the best deal is the only way to go- so long as you have the time.

Yes, I’d love to get a mini iPad. It would be great for a holiday gift OR even to keep. I’m so frugal I would never buy it myself or at least until I get out of school debt.
I’ll have to check it out. My sibling has made the outrageous request of an iPhone for Christmas. Maybe TechBargains can make it possible if we all pitch in.
