About

One couple, 3 kids.
$21,952 in debt.

This is the story of our journey to get out of from underneath this mountain of debt.

Living with debt is an unfortunate reality for many people in America, and over the years, it slowly took over our life.  In the past, we weren’t prepared for life’s little emergencies, and ended up borrowing money whenever life threw us a curve ball.  But everything is changing.

This site is about making the choice to end this nonsense and to take control. To simplify our lives, live within our means, and develop a new outlook towards money and towards life. This site will keep us honest and accountable, and won’t allow for us to hide from the debt, as we have for so many years.

I know that we are not alone. As we work through this, the good and the bad, I hope that our stories will help guide others like us to follow a similar path.

This site is a little unique in that both Michelle and Jefferson contribute regularly. We are both fully dedicated to the goal of getting and staying debt free, but each have our own unique perspective on the path that it takes to get there.

Michelle is a mom to 3 munchkins who, with her husband started See Debt Run. Within the last year she made the decision to put her career on hold to stay home with our new baby. She loves to tell stories about family life in her writing, and also enjoys talking about ways to be healthy and fashionable, without breaking the bank.
Jefferson is an IT professional, working his way up the corporate world.  Like Michelle, he loves being a parent, and his life is very focused around his kids. He has embraced the challenge of getting our finances in order and enjoys challenging conventional wisdom in his writing.  When not blogging or engineering software, Jefferson also enjoys disc golf, volleyball, and playing board games with friends.

Good luck dealing with that debt Michelle and Jeff! I think you’ll find that starting this blog was an awesome decision in the journey to get your finances back on track. I’ve learned so much about finances in the short time I’ve been blogging. Plus openly talking about it definitely keeps you more accountable. The support from everyone is great too.
